Well hello, guys! It’s me, Sara. You’re trusty financial partner in this journey called life.
(Ok, was that good enough. Did you buy it? Do I sound like an expert??)
NO?
Good, cuz I’m not. I’m a 42, soon to be 43 (yikes, I don’t even like typing it), fledgling realtor, whose gone about the harrowing task of creating a financial blog.
Why, you ask?
Cuz I need to know more. Cuz I’m struggling. Cuz I changed careers, have mountains of debt, (including my two personal faves, credit card, and school debt), and need answers. I’m YOU.
Sorry, that wasn’t supposed to be rude. And I didn’t mean to yell, but my point is, I’m just like you. I’m a regular girl. I’m a middle-age-ish woman who is trying to figure it all out. I’ve worked my arse off for most of my life, and honestly, I don’t have too much to show for it. I’ve squandered what money I’ve made, on sometimes silly things. And I, like most Americans, don’t have a safety net. I’m free-fallin’. And not in that good Tom Petty way. RIP 🙁
I’m a pretty average gal. No, I don’t mean like I’m boring, but I’m just like a lot of you. I went to school, dropped out after 2 years, worked a few jobs, like banking, pharmaceutical sales, I even was a dog walker for about 5 years. (Super fun job! And a great way to make some extra cash! More about that later 🙂 Went back to school and got a degree in Web design, worked part-time and then full-time as a horse show videographer. Managed a tall, blonde dude’s horse training business. I decided to become an adult and got a Real Estate license. And that leads me to here.

So what can you gain here? Well honestly, hopefully some skills and ideas as to how to get out of this mess that most of us are in.
Now look, I’m not exactly like you. I’m not a mother. I’m not married, (although I’ve lived with that tall blonde dude for a long time) I’m not busy at home running after kids. I don’t know about after-school programs, or the PTA.
Bought I am like you, in that, I’m struggling too. I’m almost living paycheck to paycheck. I live in such an expensive area, I can’t afford to purchase a home. I have NO retirement. Sounds dire huh?
Well, while most financial planners would describe my situation as “terminally screwed” (ok my term, not theirs), I don’t feel that way. I’m healthy (relative), I’m positive, (usually), and I’m a hard worker,(always). There are ways to make big changes in your life. A way to turn it around.
And that’s just what I’m gonna do. You wanna come along? I hope so. This is gonna be the story and journey, on how we climb outta this hole that we, as Americans ( yeah I went big there), have gotten ourselves into. And we’re gonna do it together.
So let’s get started………..
Respectfully yours,
Sara
